Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a passionate, purpose driven, systems thinker, with a deep understanding of the Social Determinants of Health to fill the role Health and Housing Manager within the organization’s Housing and Community Strategy (HCS) team. The HCS team works with Habitat for Humanity local offices across the United States primarily through thought partnership, capacity building and investments in strategic programs. The team’s efforts are grounded in social justice and equity and focused on identifying, investing in, and scaling innovative approaches to affordable housing, economic mobility, and neighborhood transformation. Current investments meant to drive more equitable health outcomes for vulnerable populations and historically under-resourced communities include Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization, and Aging in place programs.

The Health and Housing Manager (HHM) will oversee the implementation of the HCS team’s Health and Housing strategy. This includes strategic initiatives like the Housing Plus/Aging in Place Initiative, through this initiative affiliate organizations within the US are working with HFHI and industry partners like AARP and Johns Hopkins University to pilot and test housing related strategies meant to improve housing conditions and the overall health and longevity of older homeowners. The HHM will engage and assist affiliates to adopt, adapt and implement housing plus strategies in their work with older adults, with a focus on expanding the work into other vulnerable populations. The HHM will also build out new approaches that identify, develop, and nurture partnerships addressing the intersection of health and housing needs and develop funding and financing models that integrate into the broader healthcare landscape.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
** Support local Habitat offices to adopt and implement programs that support aging in place and health and housing efforts; gather and share best practices. Develop and execute relevant training for Habitat affiliates.
** Build out new approaches that identify, develop, and nurture partnerships addressing the intersection of health and housing and develop funding and financing models that integrate into the broader healthcare landscape.
** Serve as Subject Matter Expert on the importance of housing to the health, well-being, safety and security of vulnerable populations. Stay abreast of relevant innovations and emerging trends in health and housing and the social determinants of health that will positively impact outcomes for vulnerable populations.
** Support strategic plan design and implementation that will guide the expansion of this work to include a broader focus on the impact of housing on health outcomes for vulnerable or marginalized populations.
** Manage grant portfolio and program delivery that supports implementation of the Health and Housing strategy.
** Communicate effectively to internal and external audiences. Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, Habitat’s Housing Plus program vision, strategies, holistic approach and commitment to working in partnership with others.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
** Bachelor’s degree in public health, urban studies, public administration or related, sociology, gerontology, or related field with coursework, equivalent combination of education and work experience; Masters degree in one of these fields preferred
** 5-7 years of related experience with program design, grants administration, managing complex projects, and strategic planning
** Experience with Social Determinants of Health and their use in designing programming/policy
** Strong writing and communication skills
** Experience and success in designing and managing complex programs including technical assistance to end users and grants management
** Comfort working in a highly integrated, innovative and collaborative team environment
** Excellent interpersonal skills as well as a comfort with remote work and virtual teams
** Existing career focus on policy analysis and development, evidence-based program design, affordable housing and health, systems transformation and/or community collaboration

The ASPCA is one of the nation’s largest animal welfare grant makers. Since 2008, we’ve given over $100 million in grants to over 3,000 animal shelters, municipal and governmental agencies, rescue groups, sanctuaries, and other animal welfare organizations.

We are seeking a temporary Grants Manager that will support the ASPCA’s program-based grantmaking efforts within our Policy, Response and Engagement (PRE) and Shelter and Veterinary Services (SVS) divisions. This position is expected to support the team in this temporary position from March – December 2022.

The Grants Manager will support the day-to-day operations of the ASPCA’s program specific grants. Responsibilities include working daily within the grantmaking database (Fluxx) and providing timely support to all internal and external clients (grant seekers; grantees; ASPCA staff). The Grants Manager works closely with other Grants Managers and the Grants Legal Associate to facilitate efficient grantmaking processes and ensure integrity of the grants database.

The PRE Division consists of multiple teams working nationally to rescue and rehabilitate animals from cruelty cases and disasters; ensure effective enforcement of cruelty laws; improve the welfare of dogs, cats, equines, and farm animals by changing laws, policies, and public norms; and keep people and their animals together through targeted safety-net work.

The SVS Division consists of six key program areas in multiple locations throughout the country that provide direct animal care services to save lives, improve welfare, and keep people and pets together. SVS departments include: ASPCA Animal Hospital, ASPCA Adoption Center (including the Kitten Nursery), Community Medicine, the Mid West Office (including Animal Poison Control Center, Client Services and Donor Communications), Spay/Neuter Alliance and Shelter Services (including Shelter Medicine, Relocation, Northern Tier Shelter Initiative, Shelter Outreach, and Location Based Initiatives).

This is a remote position that can be performed from a home office anywhere in the country.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage pre- and post-grant processes for all grants, including workflows for grant proposal intake and review, grant approvals and contract routing, grant coding, grant payments, grantee reports, and grant close-outs.
  • Screen grant applications for missing or incomplete data; correspond with applicants to follow up and resolve any issues.
  • Monitor and facilitate the timely intake and review of grant requests and grantee reports through regular batch email reminders, individual follow-up communications, and liaising between grant seekers/grantees and Grant Officers.
  • Represent the ASPCA by providing outstanding service as the first point of contact for many organizations.
  • Facilitate the resolution of internal and external grant related email and phone inquiries. 
  • Generate customized reports from Fluxx as needed.
  • Provide technical Fluxx training to internal and external constituents.
  • Process grant seeker and other grantee portal registrations in Fluxx.
  • Perform regular data maintenance checks.
  • Perform coding and data integrity checks.
